Around 40 days prior to your boat trip, we will need to know a couple of things from you:

– passport details (full name, number, nationality, expiration date)

– flight date and time to/from Padang to schedule your transfer.

– if you have any food restriction ( we can create a special menu to better attend your needs)

– if you wish to order extra alcohol (other than the 33 beers already included in the package)

Due to the nature and variety of waves you are about to experience we always recommend:

Take extra equipment with you such as boards, legropes, wax, combo sunscreen and zinc (heaps of it), a small ding repair and some extra fins and all other kind of surf equipment you might feel comfortable with.

Once the boat departs for the ultimate surf experience it's important to be prepared for inconveniences as per the remoteness of these waves it's important to have good and spare surf equipment with you.

You will obtain a free VISA on arrival and it’s valid for 30 days.

For longer stays (more than 30 days), you should ask for an extendable VISA.

We are happy to provide the contact of an Indonesian Visa Agency that can help you with your needs and match with the best option available.

Passports should have at least six months of validity when traveling to Indonesia.

That means if your passport has less than six months remaining until the expiration date, you should renew it before your trip!

Make sure your passport satisfies the six month validity passport rule.

Be sure to book a flight to Padang considering delays.

You need to arrive in Padang until 4pm of the first day of the boat trip and book your flight out of Padang from 12:30 pm of the last day of the boat trip.

Reason for that, Indonesian domestic flights might have delays or are canceled.

If no flights available for a specific date, we always can advise you a comfortable homestay (affordable rates, aircon, swimming pool, etc) in case you arrive a day earlier or need to leave the following date from your trip.

We embrace safety as a high priority. Surya Surf Charter has two spare dings that are taken to every trip, and the self inflatable emergency boat.

Also Surya Surf Charter is well equiped with radio, satellite phone and GPS.

Before the trip commence we always make sure everyone is familiar with emergency procedures, fire extinguisher and assembly point.

All surf guides have First aid, CPR, and Covid course (infection prevention) up as per Australian National Recognised Standards.

We have a basic first aid kit for cuts and bruises. For more severe cases, in a few villages of the Mentawai, there are health centres with foreign doctors working.

For very critical condition, we will help the guest to be transported to Padang and then for better hospital in Malaysia or Singapore.

All costs will be paid by the guest.

That’s why it’s important to have a travel insurance.

To go to any boat in the Mentawai’s Islands is MANDATORY to have a travel insurance. Remember that it should cover extreme sports.

As most boats in Mentawai, unfortunately it doesn't have internet access on board. However we will stop close to several resorts that have internet access and we more than happy to take our guests to use their internet there.

Resorts charge a fee, so take money with you.

For those who have a smartphone, our advise is to buy a local carrier sim card before depart from Padang.

Along the boat trip, there will be cell phone signal at some places therefore you can access the mobile internet. The cost is very cheap, about $ 15 sim card + internet + phone package.

When you arrive in Padang, one of our Team member will ask and assist you.

We will offer snorkel masks, fins, fishing rods and artificial baits.

Keep in mind that around 20 different people per month use the same equipment daily.

Maybe it will not be in same conditions as your personal equipment that you use twice a year. If snorkel and/or fishing is on your priority list, we encourage you to bring your personal equipment.

We always can ask one of our experienced crew member to take one of our dings and take you for some marvellous snorkeling and fishing secret spots!

It is forbidden the possession and use of any illegal drug in the boat.

Indonesian law is very strict on this subject and death penalties may be appllied. We do not encourage anyone to bear this risks!

If you are traveling from Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta to Padang with Air Asia (only), please don’t forget to buy sports equipment as check in baggage in advance (online, prior to the check in time).

Paying for sports equipment when boarding can be up to 5x times more costly.

– Number of passengers required: Minimum 7 Maximum 10 (unless it is a closed group deal).

– To book an individual spot or the whole boat, it’s necessary a booking deposit of 20% fo the Trip value. This amount is not refundable in case of waiver, by any reason. However, the spot can be transferred to other person indicated by the guest, without any cost.

- We always use the currency of the deposit date to deduct any outstanding debt from the trip value.

– No spot will be blocked and hold without the booking deposit.

– The remaining balance must be paid until 40 days prior to departure. If the payment is not made before this date, the reservation will be cancelled.

– No refund is applied in case of natural disasters, such as tsunami, earthquake, storms, floods, pandemics or international borders restrictions or due to political instability, being it local, national or global disaster.

– The remaining balance payment (not including the booking deposit) could be refunded only in case of waiver up to 40 days before departure. Taxes for the money transfer will be paid by the guest.

– Individual bookings are welcome, considering we need a minimum of 7 guests to confirm the charter. In special situations, boat can depart with less than 7 guests.

– The boat can stay on a bay or a protected area for the period of time when necessary. eg: in case of an emergency, bad weather or any other reason demanded by the captain or surf guide. Our main goal is to keep the safety of the guests at all times.
